Al Duhail beat Tunisian national team

Tunisian attacking midfielder Youssef Msakni led from the front as QNB Stars League leaders Al Duhail recorded a 1-0 win over his national team in a friendly on Sunday.

Msakni scored the winner in the dying moments of the match played at the Al Duhail Stadium as part of preparations for their Week 12 away clash with Qatar SC on 13th January.

Al Duhail are leading the standings with 29 points from nine wins and two draws. They were the only team to remain unbeaten in the QNB Stars League’s first phase.

The Tunisian national team camped in Doha to gear up for the Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco from 12th January to 4th February.

A large number of fans and members from the Tunisian community in Qatar turned up to watch the match in celebration of their country’s qualification for this year’s FIFA World Cup in Russia.

Al Duhail Sports Club General Secretary Adnan Al Ali presented a memento to Tunisian Ambassador to Qatar Saleh Salhi to commemorate the strong relations between the club and the Tunisian side.

Meanwhile, goalkeeper Amine Lecomte returned to Al Duhail after completing his loan term at Al Khor for whom he played in the league’s first phase this season.

Amine is a player of high repute and has won many titles with erstwhile Lekhwiya ever since he joined them in 2010.

Al Duhail are going full steam ahead under Algerian coach Djamel Belmadi in their preparations for the second phase.
