Al Arabi sign Yemeni defender Abdrabo
QNB Stars League strugglers Al Arabi signed the deal with Yemeni defender Mudhir Abdrabo as part of their bid to bolster the ranks.
It followed the Qatar Football Association’s decision to allow Yemenis to be registered as resident players in its first and second division clubs till the end of this season due to the adverse circumstances prevailing in that country.
Accordingly, one Yemeni player can be registered by a team till the end of this season.
Abdrabo is an experienced defender who has previously played for native side Ahli Sanaa and Al Riffa in Bahrain.
The 24-year-old is the fifth recruitment made by Al Arabi in the January transfer window, after defenders Hamad Al Harbi, Ali Alloub and Ivan Foster (from Croatia) and Ghanaian striker Kwame Karikari from Al Markhiya.
Meanwhile, Croatian coach Luka Bonacic is overseeing his wards’ preparations ahead of their QNB Stars League Week 15 match against Umm Salal, scheduled for Friday. Umm Salal had won 4-1 in the first phase.
Al Arabi had played out a 1-1 draw with Qatar SC in the last round to be placed 10th with 11 points.
